Our Birch Cabin is one of 4 resort housekeeping cabins on the lake. It has hot water, furniture/bedding, vinyl floors in bath and electric upgrades. In addition to the cozy cabin, guests can use the gazebo perched 80 feet above the lake. It has lights, power, ceiling fan and 2 comfortable rockers. Also, a large, wood-fired lakeside sauna is open to guests.
Resort main lodge is a great place to meet other campers too: Lots of chairs, a big screen TV, microwave, refrigerator, 2 card/game tables, felt poker table and a 200 square foot covered lakeside screen porch that is 10 feet from Lake Vermilion and its 365 islands, 1200 miles of shoreline. Lake structure includes reefs, sunken islands, and drop-offs, all great for fishing.
Sleeping requirements: 1 BR double bed. 1 BR bunk beds. Half bath. Central shower house (very close to cabin) with 2 immaculate cedar paneled 3/4 baths, each with a heater, toilet, sink and shower.
Refer to descriptions for Aspen, Cedar, and Larch for additional resort features.
Birch Cabin is just 75 feet from the lake edge. The water in Black Bay is shallow and ideal for swimming, and the outdoor shower at the Cedar paneled shower house near cabin is ideal for rinsing off the sand. Shower house has 2 spacious 3/4 baths with showers, electric heaters and a washer and dryer.
In addition to the cabin kitchen refrigerator, guests can also use the refrigerator in the Main Lodge. Birch Cabin has a birch and Native American design.
Uniquely located near the the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). The Wilderness borders the north shore of Lake Vermilion. This might be the best place in the world to refresh the soul. Tall pines whisper with the wind; the sound of a paddle dipping into the water; the splash of a beaver tail. Wilderness!
Take to the lake! Our cabins include the use of 1 fishing boat with oars, 2-person canoe, kayaks (3 available) and a peddle boat (all first come, first served). Nearby creeks are great for kayak exploring. Lake Vermilion is an absolute joy to boat and fish. Its bays and islands offers limitless fishing options even when the wind is blowing. Inquire about available rentals for fishing boat with motor and pontoon boat. Don't forget the net! There are reefs, sunken islands, drop-offs and plenty of shoreline for fishing: Walleye, Bass, Muskie, Northern, Perch, and Panfish all make for a great fish fry. Better yet, bring your own boat - the boat launch is to the west of the Main Lodge.
We have well-maintained walking trails throughout our 85 acre lakefront setting, plus a 2 mile long driveway for longer hiking or biking. Other resort surprises include a beach, play area, fish-cleaning house, central fire pit and more.
Things to remember: Briquettes and starter fluid for the grills. Beach towels. Flashlight.
