It's perfect for a family vacation, for a group of fishermen, or for retired grandparents who'd like to introduce their grandkids to the wonder of Lake Vermilion.
With 290 feet of frontage, you'll have quite a bit of lakeshore all to yourselves. We've left 40 feet of woods undisturbed on each side to provide privacy.
The cabin is set back 120 feet with ample open space shaded by mature trees for your campfire, lawn games or lawn chair in the shade. The gentle slope to the lake makes the walk easy for youngsters and retired folks (like us!).
The cabin and the lakeshore now have Starlink internet service. Typical speeds are 150-250 Mb/s. Great for work or play. And for streaming your sports and TV programming.
Our guest boat lift has been upgraded to 3600 lbs. A 2nd boat up to 22ft long can be moored at the adjacent dock. Both docks have 120v power and an overhead light.
The 800 sq. foot cabin has two large bedrooms. One bedroom has two twin beds and one has a queen and a twin, bringing the sleeping capacity to 4 or 5 persons.
The entire cabin -- inside and out -- has been renovated over the last ten years. When you visit this summer, you'll find a new exterior, bath fixtures, and kitchen appliances. Plus, we've added a clothes washer/dryer, a dishwasher, and air conditioning -- the items most requested by our guests.
Lake Vermilion is one of Minnesota’s largest and most beautiful lakes. Its 365 islands, countless bays and points, and hundreds of miles of shoreline are waiting to be explored. Our NW facing property allows you to experience its spectacular sunsets from your private dock.
There's excellent walleye fishing right off the dock through early June, especially in the morning and evening. Several smallmouth bass reside under the dock all year. Easy for kids to catch and release.
We live on the property year round in a log home you may see in some of the pictures. We are available 24 hours a day to attend to your needs, answer any questions you might have, or to fix anything that might go wrong. But we promise to stay in the background and not disturb your full use of the entire property.

Lake Vermilion has 40,000 acres of water, 365 islands, and over 300 miles of shoreline -- all in the heart of Minnesota's famed Arrowhead Region.
Lake Vermilion has long been known as a quality walleye fishery. Over the last 20 years, it’s also become a premier musky lake. Many 50-inch muskies are caught and released every year. You'll also find great crappies, perch, smallmouth bass, northern pike, and bluegills.
Expect a good walleye bite off the dock thru early June. Perch, too. A few smallmouth bass live under the dock and boat lift all summer, but please leave those for the kids to catch and release. Mallard ducks are everywhere, especially if you toss corn (provided) on the ground. Chicks hatch starting mid June thru early July.
Lake Vermilion attracts visitors from all parts of Minnesota and the Midwest, drawn here by its beauty, its fishery and its many things to do and see. While here, check out a few of these:
- Pier 77 Mini Golf. A unique, lake-themed mini golf experience on Daisy Bay.
- Birch Point Marine. A short walk from Lovgren's Guest Cabin for ice cream, snacks and gifts.
- Trout Lake. Plan a day trip or an overnight to the BWCAW from Vermilion’s north shore.
- Soudan Underground Mine State Park. Tour a 100-year-old underground iron mine.
- The Mail Boat. Remember "On Golden Pond"? Ride along with the mail boat as it delivers mail to islands.
- Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary. See wild black bears each evening from an elevated viewing platform.
- Golf. "The Wilderness" at Fortune Bay Resort and "The Legend" and "The Quarry" at Giant's Ridge.
- Ely. Visit the International Wolf Center, the N. American Bear Center, and the Dorothy Molter Museum.
