Want to be close to the water, the resort beach, the dock? This is the cabin. The patio door leads you onto a large deck where you can watch all the late-day resort activities and fire up the charcoal grill. Just off the deck is your picnic table and fire pit. Especially fun to watch are kids (and adults) playing the largest floating water park in Northern Minnesota. Aqua trampoline with aqua log & trapeze; Acqua Tower & climbing wall; slide and a 20’ launch. Let the games begin!
Your vacation experience might start at our water park, but you’ll want to check out the Voyageurs National Park too. Pine, spruce, fir, aspen, and birch trees are everywhere, and so are the park’s islands. The only way to “voyage' is by motorboat, houseboat, canoe or kayak - a true water-based park. Take your boat, or rent one of our 16’/18' fishing boats or 21’/22’ pontoon boats, all come with GPS - and you’ll need it.
Sunset is one of 13 rental units at our Northern Lights Resort. Join us for our Saturday Welcome Dinner and learn about our Ice Cream Social and awesome Youth Quest Activities offered during the week.
Sleeping arrangement: 1 large bedroom has 3 twin beds. 2nd bedroom has 1 queen bed.
We are always updating something. New for 2014, an updated full bathroom. In 2012 we added a gas fireplace in living room for those cool spring and fall mornings. This is the Sunset Cabin so every day ends with a spectacular sunset and you have the front row seat! Gas fireplace stove.
We have a large library of DVD/VHS movies in the Aurora Room (in the main Lodge). Plus Satellite TV for game-day. The Aurora Room has snacks, pop, frozen pizza (& pizza oven) etc. Though plan on most of your time being spent outside on and off the lake. In the land of ten thousand lakes, Kabetogama Lake is an untapped treasure. Anglers love the wide open spaces - natures mosaic of land and water.
Boat, hike, explore and sight see around the resort, or get out there and fish 60+ miles of borderland water wilderness. Kabetogama Lake is situated along the U.S. and Canadian border! Giant slab crappies, Walleye, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass and jumbo Perch cruise these waters. Its excitement whether you land that big one or not. Keep some for that memorable shore lunch - savor the fresh taste of fish cooked on an open campfire.
How about an economical, quaint and simply wedding! Its the ultimate "Gods Country” experience and our wedding planner can customize an event that will make everyone very happy and relaxed. Northern Lights Resort is a great place to entertain business associates.
Since you plan and book directly with us, we can help help you plan scenic and naturalist-led tours that are offered at Voyageurs National Park.

Julia Coffman reviewed Northern Lights Resort — 5 star. I am a city girl on the East Coast without many opportunities to get well beyond the people and the noise and the traffic, and the etc. I've found Northern Lights Resort to be a beautiful respite with wonderfully friendly owners who make you feel at home while you are far away. The views, the accommodations, and the service all are just impeccable. Thank you
