With having direct access to approximately 17 private miles of the 49 mile Vermilion Rivers navigable river system, you’re in for a "full stringer experience.” Our great river location is among 3,000 lakes in the Superior National Forest. The river is banked on both sides by wild rice and due to water fluctuations there is no steadfast depth. On the average it varies from 10 to 30 feet. There are some 50 foot holes.
Our store has T-Shirts, Hats, Sweatshirts, hats, Youth-sized T-Shirts.
There are restaurants and golfing a short distance away. See the Vermilion Waterfalls, a bear sanctuary or do some shopping. Within 15 miles there is also a church for you to attend for those wanting to attend.
Don't forget your camera - the scenery and wildlife is simply awesome. Inquire about our GUIDED HUNTS. Bear hunting is excellent in this area. Baited stands are provided by a licensed guide in Northeastern Minnesota bear management area 25. Northern Minnesota abounds in Ruffed Grouse, Spruce Grouse and Duck.
We Specialize In making your Wilderness adventure being the best ever. Some of our guests have been returning for over half a century from generation to generation. They have been known to CANOE/HIKE/BIKE/HUNT/FISH/SIGHTSEE/WALK OR ATV/UTV ON THE VOYAGERS ATV TRAIL SYSTEM OR OLD LOGGING ROADS DIRECTLY BEHIND OUR RESORT.

If you're looking for a relaxing place to connect with nature and your family away from civilization this is the place. Family owned and operated resort smack dab in the middle of nowhere. Breathtaking views along the river and crazy fun fishing. Jill Bedard
this was an amazing place to have a mini vacation, it's a 5 star resort with 5 star accommodations and Lief and Xrs are 5 star people... thank you all so much for providing us with a great opportunity and experience. Joe Schaffer
It's the place to get away from it all, while doing the thing I love...fishing. It was hot. the fishing wasn't the best, but the memories and just being with nature are worth it. I'd highly recommend the Echo trail Tavern as well for a night out after a hot day spent on the river. Going to be there on a Friday or Saturday night?? They have the best pizza. BEST pizza! The road to the gold mine is kinda rough and narrow and makes for a fun ride. At night its almost mesmerizing. Amy Lynn Priewe
We had a great time at the Gold Mine!
Haven’t been back at the Gold Mine for over 30 plus years but remembered all of the old fishing spots and they still produced fish.
155 fish caught in 2 and 1/2 days. Walleyes,Northern and 1 ,5 lbs small mouth. 5 Northern over 30 inches. Two at 36 inches. Kids ,Grandkids all caught fish.16 of us. Leif was super helpful. Cabins were basic but very clean. Jeff Young
Camp was great and clean. The owner, Leif was a good host. Boats were always clean, fuel in the tanks, docks were nice and can accommodate lots of boats. Price for the week stay and boat rental was cheap. Overall great experience. Steve Kelbley

I, Leif Gunderson have owned and operated this resort for over 30 years. I have spent over 30 years finding and developing the most unique fishing opportunities found anywhere. We have been able to keep our resort small and private. This allows a friendly down-home atmosphere and speaks to the old resort phrase, “Come as a guest – Leave as a great lifelong friend.” Our emphasis on you, the customer, will be obvious during your first visit. Take that step a great vacation NOW!!
Thank you for stopping by,
Leif and Christine Gunderson
