Nestled between two portage "waterfalls," in the wilderness between Lake Vermilion and Crane Lake, the Vermilion River, with the hunting fishing and relaxing, it is Minnesota's most remote wilderness fishing resort. Don't forget your camera - the scenery and wildlife is simply awesome and our location allows the fishermen to view a scenic wonderland while pursuing his/her favorite sport whether that is fishing/hunting/hiking/biking/ATV/UTVING, canoeing or sightseeing . You’ll be wilderness fishing where few fishermen reach!
Housekeeping Cabin 3 is clean, with the hot and cold running water is serviceable, main appliances like refrigerator, stove, shower, pots and pans, dishes are supplied for you. Also included are pillows, linens and blankets, gas furnaces, and picnic tables are on grounds.
Dining and golfing are a short commute away! The possibilities for your great family/group relaxing vacation on the Vermilion River are endless. We have 7 cabins rentable in total, so renting them all for your family gathering for all is possible. why not have your wedding here or graduation party or special send off to college for the special young adult. Two cabins sleep 1-3 people with the remaining up to 8 people in each.
If your idea of a vacation is being on a gentle river or in the woods, that’s super, because there are over 3,000 lakes in this area of the Superior National Forest. Get away to the rugged and remote beauty of northern Minnesota's Superior National Forest and the Canadian Border Waters. The views are outstanding and so are the adventures for you to explore. The public access to the Vermilion River is difficult to navigate and the private cabins on the river are a handful. Have a shore lunch at one of the FOREST Departments stationary grills on the river. You will not see many other people other than the guests at the resort meaning fighting for that trophy fish is easier to throw in the boat. You can rent our boat and motor or bring your own.
Because Vermilion River is a deep, slow moving, calm and tranquil fishery, it’s perfect for fishermen looking for an easy trip. Exploring what's around the next corner, and the next corner is uncommonly stunning around here. Fish in the larger bays, such as Horseshoe bay. The river fishing here feels more like fishing than lakes in areas than on the river. This area offer a "full stringer experience.”
There are restaurants about 10 miles away.

Hello Lief and Jerry, We want to thank you for the most wonderful week of fishing at Gold Mine Resort. It was everything we could have wanted and more than we dared expect. The fishing was so great! Jerry made it possible by showing us how and where to find the fish and made it all so much fun by his positive attitude and good humor. He is a real asset to your camp atmosphere. I can't wait to show our friends the pictures and share the stories of our adventure "up north." Thank you for making us feel so welcome. LouAnn and Del hope
Rich and I wanted to again extend our thanks to you for everything during our stay this past week. While it was disappointing not to get a bear, we really enjoyed our stay - it was a great week! Sue Schabert
