This family sized lakeshore cabin offers a FUN sized vacation experience. Explore the Woods, Water, Wilderness and catch Walleye! We're the most remote drive-in resort in northern Minnesota. The Windigo Cabin is one of our 15 lakefront cabins at Big Lake Wilderness Lodge. Inside is a great room with gas-log fireplace. Well-stocked kitchen - gas range, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, small electrical appliances. and cookware.
Imagine freshly caught fish sizzling in the fry pan, lush forests with vistas that have remained unchanged for generations, stars and, sometimes Northern Lights. Bring your boat and use the nearby public launch, or rent one of our 14’ or 16’ equipped fishing boats. For a group tour of Big Lake rent our pontoon boat, find quiet bays and sandy beaches.
Sleeping arrangement: Master bedroom (private bath with jetted tub) has a king-sized bed that can convert to two twins. Second and third bedrooms have king-sized beds that can easily convert to two twins each. Double-sized sofa sleeper for extra guests.

Located 23 miles north of Ely, MN on the scenic Echo Trail. Surrounded by the Superior National Forest, close proximity to the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Things To Do
Spending time on the water is an important part of vacation time. Our clean air and pure waters invite you! 1,800 acres of water, 14 islands, and numerous inlets and bays. Our fishing season opens in May. Spring and fall fishing means colder water spurring the larger fish into feeding frenzy. If fishing is the priority then ask about our economical Walleye Fever package: includes a lake view cabin, boats and motors, and initial supply of gas and bait at one low price.
Fishing, hiking, boating on Big Lake, canoe trip adventures in the BWCAW. There is a water park adventure around every bend. We can even supply the boats/motors or canoes plus assist with transportation services to enhance your fishing and canoeing vacation. Paddle one of the most incredible places on earth.
Day trip can include the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, the Ely-Winton Historical Society, and downtown Ely, MN.

Fishing boat, motors and pontoon boats are for rent. Deposits: A deposit of 50% of the cabin rate is required to secure your reservation. Deposits are due within 10 days of your reservation request. Payment in full for reserved cabin and equipment is due at check-in. If your cancellation notice is received less than 60 days in advance of arrival, refunds minus a $150 service fee will be made ONLY IF the cabin is rented to another party for the entire time of the original reservation.

Brenda Sommers Cudd A little piece of heaven is what I think Big lake Wilderness Lodge is! My husband and I have been going here on and off for the past 18yrs. (missed a few yrs) It is very peaceful,a great lake to fish, wildlife is around just have to look for it.
