Unique Features
Dense pine and birch forests have remained virtually unchanged for generations. Family generations have been catching walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, and perch on Big Lake and nearby remote wilderness lakes and rivers both inside and outside the Boundary Waters. BWCAW entry permits for day trips are FREE. Ask us about our Walleye Fever Fishing Packages and Fishing Day Trips. You can even camp on 2 islands; Two of the islands Spirit and Loon, offer fully equipped base tent camps.
Keep your feet on the ground and near the resort at these exceptional unique hiking venues. The Bass Lake trail features a scenic waterfall. This trail is located on the Echo Trail. Angleworm Trail has many high ridges with scenic overlooks. The Trezona Trail goes around Miners Lake.
Things To Do
Plan on spending time exploring 1,800 acres of water, 14 islands, and numerous inlets and bays. Bring your boat or rent one of our resort fishing boats (Deluxe 16’ Lund; 14’; and Pontoon boat). Big Lake is a place of rugged beauty and Ely is a great place to find attractions: Dorothy Molter Museum, the International Wolf Center, the North American Bear Center, and much more.
Whether you’re on a canoe adventure in BWCA or back at the cabin, you’ll want to enjoy the daily crackle and warm glow of an evening campfire. And the sizzle of freshly-caught fish in the fry pan. Cabin time around here includes plenty of tasty shore lunches. Granite Point Cabin is located close to BWCA entry points along the Echo Trail. Did you know the BWCAW is visited by more than 200,000 visitors who travel the more than 1500 miles of canoe routes
Things to remember: Bring your own bath towels.
