Pequot Lakes, located in the Northern region of the Brainerd Lakes Area, is classic small town U.S.A. Pequot Lakes is a place to reconnect with family and friends and step back to a simpler time. The small town is a great place to visit winter, spring, or fall and legend has it that Paul Bunyan rested his bobber on the Pequot Lakes water tower and would keep an eye on it while he rested in his oversized chair. The Paul Bunyan Trail runs from Brainerd to Bemidji with a stop right in downtown Pequot Lakes. Meander through Breezy Point, Jenkins, and around the Whitefish chain on the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway—a nationally recognized route with 54 miles of paved, wide-shouldered roads. Come for a visit and you’ll fall in love with the spirit of this area. 

The Trailside Park is a beautiful park located in the Center of downtown Pequot Lakes. The Park features many wonderful options for families.. Whether you are enjoying a walk or a bike ride along the trail, be sure to look for Paul's footprints in the park; they are quite large and will be hard to miss. Enjoy a picnic at one of the covered picnic areas or take in some music during the summer; band concerts are free to the public every Saturday evening throughout the summer months. The Park also has a Veteran's Memorial that you will not want to miss so you can pay your respect to the Veterans who have served our Country. Additionally, the park is home to Dru's Garden which is a beautiful garden in memory of Dru Sjodin. 

The Paul Bunyan Trail is the longest MN Bike trail at 120-miles and it connects the Heartland Trail, the Blue Ox Trail and the Cuyuna State Trail. The terrain of the Paul Bunyan Trail ranges from flat and open to hilly and scenic for any level of bike rider. While biking is the main event, don’t forget that the Paul Bunyan Trail is open year-round with loads of other recreational activities available. The Paul Bunyan Bike Trails offer so much more than just beautiful scenery and paved trails, and Pequot lakes features an abundance of dining and shopping options.
