Palisade is a small city in rural Minnesota with a population of less than 200. The Mississippi River flows through Palisade, making it a great place for fishing and canoeing. Palisade is home to the Long Lake Conservation Center, which is a Residential Environmental Learning Center located in the northwoods of Minnesota in the heart of Aitkin County. Long Lake is a unique, peaceful, and secluded place to host a special event, retreat, or group getaway. Nestled lakeside on 760 acres, with lodging, dining, and plenty of space to explore, Long Lake can accommodate almost any size group. Long Lake is also a great place to rent a canoe, go for a hike, swim, cross country skiing or snowshoeing.

For a gift, be sure to stop by the Jacques Art Center and its lovely gallery of handmade and artisan pieces. The Jaques Art Center takes pride in its gift shop filled with wonderful art and handiwork of artists and artisans.  Each exhibit features a 'spotlight wall,' which celebrates the art of our members who are also artists.The rest of the gift shop is filled to the brim with one-of-a-kind items just ripe for giving or keeping. After hunting, fishing, or shopping at the art gallery, grab a bite at ​​The Roasting House in nearby McGregor. In the morning, try the Breakfast Panini or Stuffed Hash Browns with gravy and be sure to enjoy a cup of B + W coffee. The gift shop sells coffee mugs, jewelry, greeting cards, and more for a last minute gift. Another option for a meal is Zorbaz, a “Mexican Pizza Joint.” Try the pizza with queso and a beer near the fireplace on a chilly night. The Palisade Cafe 2.0 is a must try!
